Our Story
"We didn't just open a supermarket. We made a commitment to Kampala — that every product on our shelf would be safe, fresh, fairly priced, and worthy of your family's table."
— Toora Mart Management
Toora Mart was founded with a single, resolute vision: to raise the bar for retail grocery in Kampala. In a landscape where quality and consistency can be unpredictable, we chose to build a supermarket that operates with enterprise-grade discipline — meticulous inventory management, temperature-controlled cold storage, rigorous hygiene protocols, and supplier partnerships that prioritise provenance and freshness.
From our very first operational day, we established internal review systems that most retail businesses in the region do not apply. Our in-store team performs morning shelf checks, daily expiry audits, and temperature logs for all cold chain products. Our shelves are never stocked with product that does not meet our internal freshness standard — period.
Today, Toora Mart is recognised as one of Kampala's most trusted retail destinations — a place where families, professionals, and institutions come not just to shop, but to shop with complete confidence. That trust is our most important asset, and we work every day to earn it.
Our Corporate Pillars
Every item we stock passes an internal sourcing review. We partner with verified Ugandan producers and established distributors. If it does not meet our standard, it does not reach our shelf.
Our store is maintained to the highest cleanliness standards. We invest in proper cold-chain infrastructure, sanitation equipment, and structured daily cleaning cycles — visible to every customer.
We price fairly, serve honestly, and give back by employing locally, sourcing Ugandan-grown produce wherever possible, and operating transparently within our community.
Every member of our team is trained to assist, not just attend. We measure our service by the experience of the customer walking out — not the transaction at the till.
Quality Control
Every morning before doors open, our produce team inspects all fresh vegetables, fruits, and perishables. Items approaching or past peak freshness are removed — no exceptions.
Our dairy and refrigerated goods section is maintained with dedicated temperature logging. Lato UHT Milk, Jesa Yoghurt, eggs, butter — all are monitored to preserve shelf life and food safety.
A structured FIFO (First In, First Out) shelf rotation system ensures older stock moves first. Products within 30 days of expiry are flagged for review and managed systematically.
We source from established Ugandan producers and nationally recognised distributors. Our supply partners are vetted for consistency, reliability, and product authenticity.
Customer Service
At Toora Mart, customer service is treated as a core operational function, not an afterthought. Every member of our floor team is trained on product knowledge, aisle navigation, and communication standards that reflect the quality of the store they represent.
We operate a clear complaint resolution pathway — any customer concern raised in-store or via our contact channels is addressed within the same business day. We do not dismiss, deflect, or delay. If something is wrong, we fix it.
Our checkout team is trained in courteous, efficient service. We monitor queue times and adjust staffing dynamically during peak hours — weekday evenings and weekend mornings — to ensure you spend your time shopping, not waiting.

Community & Environment
Toora Mart is proud to be a homegrown Kampalan retail institution. We make deliberate choices to support the local economy — from prioritising Ugandan-grown produce like matooke, Irish potatoes from Kabale, and fresh avocados, to employing local staff and sourcing from Ugandan brands wherever possible.
Our branded eco-shopping bags are part of a broader commitment to reducing single-use plastic in our community. We believe that a premium supermarket should also model responsible retail behaviour.
When you shop at Toora Mart, you are not just buying groceries — you are supporting a local business that reinvests in Kampala's economy, employs Kampalan workers, and takes pride in elevating the retail standard of our city.
